Chiropractic has been around for thousands of years, from the bone setters to the trained doctors that you see now throughout the world.
To become a chiropractic doctor, it requires rigorous schooling and exams. There are less than 20 schools in the world that offer the doctoral program.
At Haven Chiropractic Health, we believe that the body has the internally-wired ability to heal & restore itself. Our goal is to remove any interference in the nervous system to allow the body to function at its optimal.
We perform specific adjustments of various styles dependent on patient need & comfort level, such as hands-on, tonal, drop piece , and instrument based manipulation
CST is a body balancing technique to unwind fascia. The goal is to balance the CS system (fluids & tissues that surround the brain and spinal cord).
Many different modalities and therapies exist to bring the body in balance.
Chiropractic,CST, acupuncture, & massage are just a few of our favorites.
We can add on CST to assist in full-system balancing.
It highly complements any bodywork, but particularly chiropractic which can help adjustments hold better & longer.
If you are looking for a full session of body work, we have a network of CST providers that we refer to througout the twin cities.
Doulas have been around for centuries. There are different types of doulas, including those who provide support after delivery and those who are there for pregnant women during labor and delivery. Numerous studies have shown benefit of having this support for better birth outcomes.
We want you to have the most positive birth experience you can-according to your terms. We will be there to support you in any decision you make for yourself and your child. We will help advocate for your wishes to be fulfilled when medically possible.
A doula understands that birth is a primary memory for the birthing person. We believe that birth is a natural process that should be honored.
As a doula, we do not perform any medical care.
Instead we may:
-discover the birth wishes of the expecting parent(s)
-help develop a birth and postpartum plan
-teach physical and emotional comfort measures to utilize during labor and delivery
-be a resource of evidence based information
-be present during labor and delivery
-facilitate communication between the family and care team during LD
-give basic lactation advice
- support in the immediate postpartum period
-help the parent(s) express their feelings about the birth and resources
It's not your bones crunching together, it is air being released from a joint space. Think about what happens when you open a jelly or pickle jar.
In regards to the body, this sound is irrelevant.
It does not mean a proper adjustment happened.
In particular, I find that chronic or that have a lot of tense musculature above, either have dampened sounds or none at all. Additionally, depending on the correction method used.
It takes time to make neurological, brain-based change.
If you started seeing us for a symptom, they commonly improve in a short period of time but the work is not done to make the change stick. This is in part due to neurological connection and muscle memory.
Additionally, to get benefits from care, most of our practice members choose to continue for wellness adjustments and check-ins.
Consider brushing your teeth-do you do that for no reason or to prevent cavities? Will you stop brushing a year from now cause your teeth "look fine"?
Some patients do experience physical changes after adjustments.
This may include soreness, increase in symptoms, or decrease in symptoms.
It is commonly temporary to have an unpleasant side effect, especially if you don't follow your care plan and recommendations.
I always say, about 60% experience some type of relief, 20% the same, and 20% increase until the body starts holding.
Chiropractic care isn't just for adults - kids can benefit too! We offer pediatric chiropractic care to help manage a variety of conditions, including colic, ear infections, and ADHD.
Kids tend to respond quickly, depending on the state of their nervous system.
We all know it's usually easier to fix acute issues than chronic conditions.
With kids, we try to make it a fun experience and you will commonly see us adjusting and playing with them.
Pain is not a good indicator of health.
The majority of your nervous system is dedicated to daily functional actions-such as letting your lungs breathe, your heart beat, and so on . Small percentage is dedicated to pain fibers.
Think about a house fire and a pain based model. The house is your body, the fire is the issue, and the alarm is the symptom awareness. The fire starts in your kitchen but your alarm is in the upstairs bedroom. There will be a lag time until the alarm goes off.
Would you rather shut off the alarm (IE pain meds, ignore, surgery etc) or quench the fire (aka the real problem that will end up impacting your whole house).
Chiropractic is a branch of holistic & alternative medicine.
This means that I choose, what I believe are more natural options for myself and my family.
I consider that there is a time and place for all things-whether that is medical intervention or not.
I cannot make a decision for you or those you care about what the best option is-but I can led you to resources so that you can be informed on pros, cons, and alternatives.
I do commonly when needed co-manage with other health professionals to give the best well rounded care as well.
Just a few:
-subluxation/misalignment: an overcorrection of movement within the joint due to physical, emotional, mental stressors
-adjustment/correction: putting energy into the body for it to focus on this can be done with hands, instrument, and intention
-sympathetic nervous system: stress nervous system
-parasympathetic nervous system: rest nervous system
Any others-just ask!
Webster technique is a chiropractic analysis and adjustment method utilized for pregnant birthing persons in order to balance the pelvis and sacrum. This is done by muscle tension release work and specific adjustments. This hep restores proper physical biomechanics.

Doctors are there for your medical needs. An attending doula is there for your physical, emotional, and if desired spiritual needs. When you are in active labor, the Doulas only priority is you. The doula is not seeing other clients, taking her mandated breaks, nor doing any distracting clinical jobs. Although we love health care providers and what they can give to a laboring person, they can commonly have other obligations to attend to at some point.
No.
A doula is a person who loves birth and being there for laboring people.
Although it is true that a doula does not technically need to be trained, our company goes through professional training programs.
We do not provide medical care of ANY kind.
We do not make any decisions for you nor speak for you.
We do not replace your partner(s) or birth supporter.
Quite the opposite!
Since we do prenatal training together on ways they can get involved to be there for you, your partner or birth supporter will feel better equipped to serve you. This is all based on yours and their comfort levels.
Furthermore, the doula is also there to remind the partner of their own needs-eating, drinking, rest, and so on. This allows all parties involved to feel physically and emotionally ready to give their best self to the experience.
As mentioned, we are there for your physical and emotional needs.
Regardless if a procedure is planned or not, we can help you with the transition with breathing techniques, emotional support, and communication between you & your providers.
We will support you in any decisions you make for yourself and your family, whether medically minded or holistic.
If there is a change in your birth plan at ANY time, please alert your Doula as soon as possible so they can make proper adjustments if needed.
Yes!
For example, one study of over 15000 laboring women showed that due to the support of a doula...
-28% less likely to have a csection
-31% less likely to use artificial oxytocin to increase rate of labor
-9% less likely to use pain meds
-34% less likely to rate their labor and birth experience negatively
